In one of our previous posts, we discussed about the top technological trends that will be dominant in 2016. 3D printing was also one of those trends. Although some industries started getting benefits from it in this year but there were no advancements in it such as the material which is used for printing. But now we can see a lot of new things happening in this technology. It is a known fact that 3D printing will become one of the cost effective IT solutions in 2016 because of Internet of Things (IoT).
As this technology is evolving, new materials are making their way in order to be useful. These materials include carbon fiber, glass, nickel and nylon. Now electrical, pharmaceutical and medical materials are also making their way towards this technology.
Composite printing will be dominant in the next year. It is the art of using two or more materials in the same printer in order to get various advantages. Experts have started printing various objects with the mixture of nylon & fiberglass or nickel & carbon fiber.
Up till now, most of the printers only print in one color. But a few of them have been optimized to use multiple colors for printing. “Binder Jetting”, a technology developed by MIT, uses multiple colors for printing.
We have seen some researchers that started using robots for this purpose. The reason is that some of the printing types require a lot of efficiency and effectiveness. For example, glass printing requires plenty of heat and trial and error.
3D printing will go viral in 2016. As Internet of Things is also emerging as one of the top technological trends, together both of them can be used to fulfill the user needs in an extraordinary way.
