Since the release of Chrome operating systems, the experts of IT industry started questioning the techies of Google that whether it should have two operating systems or not. The speculation of merging the two OS’s, Android and Chrome, began from the middle of this year.
Now it is said that it is not a speculation anymore. Rather the stakeholders of Google are discussing and planning about this merger. Google has been working lately to fold the contents of Chrome OS into Android. The development of merged operating system will start at the end of next year and it will be up and running in the year 2017.
There is no assurance as to what extent these two operating systems will be merged. Although a Google spokesperson denied this news and told the media that it shouldn’t believe in rumors, although many techies of Google have hinted that it is planning on unifying the contents of these two operating systems.
SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer, a Google executive, tweeted:
“There’s a ton of momentum for Chromebooks and we are very committed to Chrome OS. I just bought two for my kids for schoolwork!”
Chrome OS was built in the year 2009 and many Chromebooks are now in the market. Its customer share has increased rapidly in the previous 3 years. Another big thing in this matter is that Android has now become the world’s most famous OS. Google has recently unveiled a Chromebook running Android operating system. Therefore, many chances are there for the merger of these two operating systems, Chrome and Android. Companies providing android app development shouldn’t start worrying about this merger from today, but they should keep this in their minds.
