The beta version of WordPress 4.5 was released last week. It included many new features as compared to WordPress 4.4. There is a possibility that not all the new features of beta version will make it to the final release. The final version of WordPress 4.4 is expected to release in the month of April.
Let’s look at the new features which are expected to be a part of WordPress 4.5.
Responsive Preview in Customizer:
- The users will be able to see a responsive version of previews of their website in the customizer.
- There will be a ‘device’ button which will include desktop, tablet and mobile options.
Improvements in Visual Editor:
- The visual editor will get new features in WordPress 4.5. One of these features is direct inline link editing.
- In the previous versions, a pop-up window comes up when you click the link icon. Now you can do it directly with the CTRL+K command.
- Use this command and the option to add a link to a particular text will be shown right under that text. There will be no pop-up windows to do this task.
- The shortcuts for italic, bold and code will also be added in the next version.
- The WordPress UX will also be upgraded in the next version.
Support for Theme Logo:
- The users will be able to add theme logos from the customizer.
- The size values of logos will also be available for editing.
- Kindly note that only the themes which support this feature will show the option in the customizer.
Improvement in Moderate Comment Screen:
- When there is a new comment on the blog, WordPress sends an email to the author. If you click on that email, a screen is displayed to approve the comment.
- In the previous versions, there were no options to edit that comment and see the formatting of the texts.
- Now both of these features will be added to the screen.
Login through Email:
- This will also be one of the best features of WordPress 4.5
- The users usually forget their usernames. Therefore, big websites like Twitter and Facebook allow their users to login with their emails.
- This feature will be added to WordPress 4.5 and users will be able to login through their emails.
Developer Features:
- Developers will be able to edit the embedded posts added by the users.
- WordPress 4.5 will come with WP_Site class for multi-site WordPress installs.
- Adding inline scripts will become easier with the introduction of wp_add_inline_script () in WordPress 4.5.
- All these features will help in making CMS customization easier than before.
