While surfing the internet, your browser records the addresses of every website you visit in its history. However, it sometimes slows downs your browser and takes extra space on your disk if you don’t clear it—Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Safari, and Opera, and the most commonly used browsers, let’s see how to clear web browser’s history one by one.
Clear Browser History in Google Chrome
While using Google Chrome you can delete individual caching data from the browsing history by its history panel. But if you want to delete search history (or from a specific time frame), you must go into the browser’s settings.
In case of using a Google Account to sync browsing data, deleting your history will also remove it from other devices that are connected with your Google account.
Google Chrome — Windows & Mac
- On the top right hand side (select icon with three dots) ->Open Chrome’s More menu and choose Settings.
- Navigate to the Privacy and security section and Click on Clear browsing data.
- Open the accordion-menu next to Time range (To delete all history) and pick a time duration. You see following options Last hour, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days, Last 4 weeks, and All time.
If you want to delete the cache and cookies, check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, as per your needs.
You can also switch to the Advanced tab to delete the download history with some advanced features like saved passwords, autofill data, and more. This is how you can clear search history google chrome.
5. Select Clear data.

Google Chrome — Android and iOS
1. Open Chrome’s More menu from the top-right (Android) or at the bottom-right (iOS) of the screen. Then, Tap on Settings.
2. Tap History =>Then Clear browsing data in Android phone, or Privacy => Clear Browsing Data for iOS device.
3. Tap Time Range and mention a time duration—e.g., All Time. (To delete all history)
4. Select Browsing History.

Clear Browser History in Mozilla Firefox
In the Mozilla Firefox browser, you can clear its history (desktop and mobile) both browsers by just going into the Options or Settings menu. If you use a Firefox Account to sync your data same as Google Chrome, deleting your history on one device will remove it from other connected devices with your account as well.
Mozilla Firefox — Windows & Mac
- Click the Firefox menu (The icon with three stacked lines) and select Options.
- Select Privacy & Security located on the sidebar menu.
- Navigate down to the History section and click Clear Data, Manage Data and Clear History.
Mozilla Firefox — Android & iOS
1. Start the Firefox browser from menu and tap Settings.
2. Tap Clear private data in Android or Data Management in IOS.
3. Turn on the ON/OFF switch icon (as per screenshot below) next to Browsing History.
4. Tap Clear data in Android or Clear Private Data in iOS.
5. Tap OK to confirm.

Clear Browser History in Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge Browser is available in windows with comprehensive protection against privacy threats online with its built-in Tracking Prevention module. But if you have any concerns or cache size, disk space issues if cache becoming large, you can still clear your browsing history.
Microsoft Edge — Windows & Mac
1. Click the Edge menu and select Settings.
2. Navigate to the Privacy, search, and services tab located in the side tab.
3. Below the Clear browsing data section, select choose what to clear.
4. Open the accordion menu under Time range and pick an available time range—e.g., All time. (To delete all history)
5. Click Browsing history.
6. Click Clear now.
Microsoft Edge — Android & iOS
1. Click the Edge menu (three dots at the bottom of your browser screen) and select Settings.
2. Tap Privacy and security under settings and => Clear browsing data.
3. Tap Browsing History.
4. Select Clear browsing data.
5. Tap Clear to confirm.

Clear Browser History in Apple Safari
Apple’s Mac OS native Safari browser, iPhone, and iPad allow you to delete its browsing history very easily. However, if you’ve configured the browser to sync your data over your Apple ID same as other modern browsers, clearing the browser history on a single device will delete it on other devices as well.
Apple Safari — Mac
- Tap on the Option key and select Safari on the menu bar. Then, Tap
- Clear History Without Deleting Browsing Data.
3. Click Clear History.
Tip: In order to delete all browsing data in Safari, just open the Safari menu without holding down the Option key and click Clear History.

Apple Safari — iPhone & iPad
Same as on the Mac, you can’t clear your browser history only in Safari for the iPhone & iPad but clearing your history will also remove cached site data and cookies as well.
1. Tap the Bookmark icon located at the bottom (iPhone) or the top-right corner (iPad) within any Safari browser you have.
2. Navigate to the History tab.
3. Tap Clear and select a time range (Duration) —All-time, Today and yesterday, Today, or The last hour.
Safari will immediately clear the cache, history and cookies related to the selected time period.
